I'm Maxime Himeno, an engineering student at EPITA in Paris. I build low-latency and distributed systems.

Open to internships from Feb 2027, full-time from Jun 2027 · Europe and APAC (Tokyo, Singapore)

What I enjoy most is going the extra mile: taking the current state of the art as a baseline and seeing how much further I can push it.

Going further doesn't mean doing more everywhere, though. To me, a system's intelligence shows in its simplicity, with effort spent where it matters. A well-designed system is one where every level has been considered, from the interactions between services down to the cache line, and where intention can be felt at every corner.

This site is where I write that process down: the project pages give an overview of each system and what it's for, and the posts go into the individual choices inside them.

Outside of engineering, I love cooking, and I've practiced judo for fourteen years. I also speak French and Japanese.
